Nov 03 Queenstown Mellow

Poor sleep, dreaming of falling. Wonder why? Sunny but cold this morning in the parking lot, the mountains keep the cold air in the valley until the sun finally gets high enough overhead.

Found this proud little guy in the grass under a communal clothesline at some campervan park…

From the gondola high above, those brave enough to parasail down were up early…

Called the Vertigo bikes guys to see about heli-cycling prospects… no new victims. So, wait was the order of the day. Promising to be back before the shop closed, we set out for an easy day.

Walked the downtown area, looking into the overpriced stores. Speights ale house called our name for lunch, we ate outside as the sun continued to climb.

Walked the boardwalk, and basically that was our day. Slow, easy. Nice.

Returned to the bike shop, I was still the only one, so it was a no go. Oh well, Whistler does the same thing every summer. Who’s in?

We’d booked a gondola ride/dinner buffet combo, rode the steep gondola to the restaurant cantilevered out over the town.

Beautiful views…

And our little campervan parking lot…

An amazing buffet, the sun was receding as we ate in the glass walled restaurant, lighting the surrounding mountains with brilliant golden light. Great food, great scenery, an excellent day.

Look close at the previous pic, here’s the boat zoomed in to give some idea of the scale of the place…

The mountain cutting off the village from the sun…

We descended the gondola,

upon exiting we noticed a funny “Wicked” camper. This company rents minivans to tourists, each van is painted in a graffiti style, often with musical group or pop culture themes. Bob Marley, GNR, the General Lee, etc.

This particular one had a question on the back, in “spray paint”… “If you threw a kitten out the back of a moving van, would it be Kitty Litter?”

Returned back to our little van, lots of driving to do in the a.m., stuffed bellies protesting.

Goodnight.

You guys look like you are having way too much fun.... Miss you both. Now get on back here. Continue to have fun, just be safe jumping out of airplanes and driving on the wrong side of the street. Can't wait to share a bottle of wine and hear your stories.
